The Royal Hotel is the only surviving hotel from the gold rush. I projected a photo I found of drinkers at the former All Nations Hotel - their stances seemed perfect. Peter Sparks (far right) a barman at the Royal, kindly sat in on the photo holding a glass of beer.

. La Paloma Pottery shed on Thomas Street. This tin wall was the perfect material to project the W. Jenkyns General Blacksmith shop image. I love the way the rust gave some of the fellas in this projection a lovely brown sepia tone.

. Split Rock at Kissing Point. A notable portrait of five miners including Bernhardt Holtermann, (2nd from the left) showing off their nuggets. A month after this picture was taken Holtermann found his famous 285 kg nugget. As they say, the rest is history.

The last remaining edifice of the mighty Chappell’s Gold Battery near Bald Hill. I chose these portraits of Mr Stanley Hosie (left) and Jack Plummer on a whim. Their countenance conveyed to me a sense of purpose and industry, which like this crumbling wall has now faded in the passage of time.

1. The Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Denison Street. I projected this portrait of Mary Jane Bryant (born 1864) as she reminds me of a younger Kim Deacon, a talented local harpist, who does performances here on special occassions.
